Publishers Weekly Reviews ONCE UPON A BEAST

I recently learned that Publishers Weekly reviewed the first book in my Bourbon Falls Series, ONCE UPON A BEAST. This is my first PW review!!! Yes, there was squealing and happy dances commenced. I’m sharing the review below, as well as a link to their site. They’ve also reviewed book 3 (releasing 4-4-24), which I’ll share soon as well. Both reviews made my day…

Here’s what PW had to say about my modern day retelling of Beauty and the Beast:

“Jacobs (the Checkerberry Inn series) launches her Bourbon Falls series with a sturdy small-town romance. The locals of Bourbon Falls, Ind., have taken to calling their newest resident “Harry the Hermit” due to his extensive facial hair and antisocial tendencies. Really, he’s tech mogul Isaac Manning, who’s riding out the fallout from his vengeful ex-girlfriend’s social media smear campaign against him. One rainy night, Delaney “Del” Brooks’s niece crashes her car into his yard—and when Del shows up to help her, Isaac can’t deny his attraction. The owner of a landscaping company, Del offers to fix the damage, putting her and Isaac in close contact. As they bond, Isaac offers to return the favor by designing a website to help her fundraise for her family’s struggling bookstore. Their time together inevitably leads to romance, but what will happen when Isaac tells her the truth about who he is and why he’s in town? Jacobs gracefully avoids the pitfalls of the overused miscommunication trope to refreshing effect. With a strong female lead and townsfolk who readers will be eager to revisit, this kicks the series off right.” ~ Publishers Weekly
